# Google Drive

> The agent reads Google Drive as its own mailbox account, scoped per group to files linked in the group's mail, shared with its address, or shared with its Workspace domain.

The agent reads Google Drive files as its own Google account, the mailbox you linked. There's nothing to connect: linking a mailbox also grants read-only Drive access. Files stay in Drive; the agent reads the current version when it opens one, and nothing is copied into Cloud Tag.

## Which files a group can reach

One mailbox serves many groups, so Drive is scoped per group: in a group's threads, the agent opens only files the group itself could open. That means files that are:

- **shared with the group's address**, e.g. shared with `sre@yourcompany.com`;
- **shared with everyone in your Workspace domain** (findable by them), when the group is on that domain;
- **linked** in the group's mail, by a Google-written Drive link, when the file's link sharing lets the group open it: **Anyone with the link**, or, for a group on your Workspace domain, **Anyone in your domain with the link** (for a file owned in that domain). A link that needs a resource key works only when the posted link carries it.

Files shared with the agent's address directly, or with another of its groups, are out of reach in this group, even when someone posts their link there: knowing a link doesn't prove who may open the file. If a linked file isn't reachable, share it with the group's address.

Drive doesn't always tell a reader how a file's link is shared. When it doesn't, Cloud Tag checks with a search of the agent's own Drive, and a file it can't confirm stays out of reach.

## Use it

```text
@cloud summarize the Q3 planning doc Priya linked last week, and list the open questions.
```

The agent searches the files its group can reach and opens them as needed. A Google Doc comes as a PDF and as text, a Sheet or Slides deck as a PDF, and other files as themselves.

To give a whole group access to a file or folder, share it with the group's address in Drive.

## Older mailboxes

Mailboxes linked before Drive access was asked for keep working without it. Their organization page says so under the agent; click **Link again** and sign in as the mailbox to grant it.

## Differences from Claude Tag

Claude Tag's Drive connector reaches whatever its account can open, in every channel it applies to. Cloud Tag keeps each group to its own files, and there's no option yet to give a group the whole Drive. Google Calendar and Gmail aren't available as connectors this way; add an MCP server for them on the **Connectors** page, or use a [personal connector](https://www.cloudtag.tech/docs/concepts/personal-connectors.md).
